IdeaPad Notebooks
“Lenovo S10 – The Best Notebook We’ve Seen All Year. Amazing combination of price and performance... It's pint-sized, light (2.7 pounds), and bereft of big power, featuring the now-standard 1.6-GHz Atom CPU and 1 GB of RAM. But dig deeper and you'll find a series of impressive upgrades over the competition: The most visible is a 10.2-inch LCD vs. the 8.9-inch screen that's become the norm on mini-notes.” Wired, October 2008
ThinkPad SL400
“Lenovo pushed all the right buttons when it crafted the ThinkPad SL400 business laptop. It's portable enough to suit most road warriors, but fast enough to keep their apps running smoothly... We've looked at a lot of business laptops this year, but few have hit on the essentials—good display, comfortable design, portability, price, and connectivity—as well as the ThinkPad SL400.” Computer Shopper, August 2008
ThinkCentre A62
“Lenovo’s ThinkCentre A62... looks just like previous ThinkCentre towers, though it's inside where all the magic happens. This model has a quad-core AMD Phenom processor, and that may make a difference to that star worker who's always complaining that his or her PC is too slow. The A62 is a (relatively) energy-efficient PC backed by Lenovo's Green corporate policies, and thus earns a PC Mag Green Tech award. ” PC Mag, November 2008
First Dual Screen Mobile Workstation Released
In January 2009 Lenovo introduced the ground-breaking ThinkPad W700ds mobile workstation – the first mobile workstation in the industry with two screens, making it the ultimate mobile workstation.
“The ThinkPad W700ds dual screen mobile workstation challenged our international development team to engineer a notebook to fit the way workstation users work - in the office and on the road,” said Mark Cohen, vice president, Notebook Business Unit, Lenovo. “Bringing this level of innovation to the most extreme PC users required continually balancing size and functionality with keeping the PC cool and quiet. This mobile workstation is the result of where Lenovo innovation and performance intersect.”
Lenovo UK Web Shop Opens
At the start of 2009 Lenovo opened its online web store, allowing consumers to buy its notebooks and desktops direct from their online store. Using the new web shop, Lenovo customers can configure PCs which are then built to order and delivered within 10 working days. The new IdeaPad S10 Netbooks will be available along with the ThinkPad, ThinkCentre and ThinkStation ranges.
This is a major development for Lenovo, as Alan Munro, VP Lenovo UK and Ireland says, “The new Lenovo web shop expands our horizons beyond our traditional SMB customer base into the homes and offices of the SoHo, VSB and consumers. This strategic new direction complements our existing indirect sales through our channel business partners.”
